A local group (not me!)  is setting up periodic dinners for fellow slash fans in the San Francisco Bay Area.  You can find out more by joining the mailing list here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SFBAS/

Feel free to pass the info on to any interested slash fans.

For those of you who missed or would like to revisit this year's vidshow (or track down and stalk some of the vid-makers), I've posted a playlist with links here.

I was honored, as always, to have the chance to put together this year's vidshow. I hope everyone enjoyed it, and that you had a great time at the convention!

Since I will not be attending the Dead Dog panel on Sunday, I thought I would offer two suggestions for future BASCons:

1) unmoderated panels - There is no listing of potential panels priot to the Con. I am not referring to the programming grid with days and time, just a listing of panels with a moderator identified or panels that need moderators. If I knew which panels need a moderator, I can volunteer to moderate a panel.

2) volunteers - instead of a general call for volunteers, why not provide a list of duties with time needed (for example, 1 hour on Friday morning)

I think more members would be willing to help out if we knew what was needed specifically.

BASCon 11 was a very fun con. I really hope that it can continue in the very near future.

Is the panel schedule for Saturday available on the web?

Thank you, and see you all Saturday!

A quick reminder: Bascon is next week and I'll be accepting donations of fanzines, letterzines and also songvid tapes. Details are here and here

In addition to collecting fanzines/letterzines/con program guides at Bascon for the Fanzine Archives, I am working to digitize older songvids on VHS tapes. If you have a songvid VHS tape and would like to  donate it for digitization, please contact me at mdawn6 @ yahoo.com.  Unlike fanzines which can be dropped off at Jim and Melody Rondeaus table, VHS donations need to be arranged for in advance.  If you’d like, I’d be happy to send you a copy of the DVD in exchange for your donation.

At present I can't say for certain I'll be coming to the con, but I'm living in hope I can work something out - which is partly dependant on finding someone with whom to split the cost of the hotel stay. Most people whom I've tried contacting haven't said anything back, so I'm hoping that casting my net out here will be more productive.

I'd be staying for the whole of the con, likely coming in Thursday and leaving Sunday, and as long as I don't have to share a bed I'm fine with just about anything.

Hello Everyone,

After much discussion the BASCon Con Com has decided that 2011 will be our farewell event.

This was not an easy decision to make, however, between life commitments and the effect the economy has had on the Con Com and our attendees we feel we can no longer deliver the quality event that Bascon attendees have come to expect and that we've worked hard to provide.

It is our choice to end BASCon on a positive note and give everyone a chance to say goodbye. Who knows, an improved economy and a few years rest
and we might launch "BASCon:Reboot".

What happens now?

The BASCon website will stay up. It will become an achive for the history of the con as well as enable us to keep a web presence in the event we produce another con. The BASCon mailing list and LiveJournal/Dreamwidth journals will also stay up for the foreseeable future.

One day memberships will be available starting on Tuesday, September 6th at $45.00 per day, Friday or Saturday only.

Deadline changes:

Deadlines for panel submissions have been pushed back to September 15th. If you'd like to contribute, please contact:

Panels: coniraya.s@gmail.com

Through changes and challenges, our attendees have made this con what it is. We may produce it but those who attend are our life's blood. Thank you for letting us be your home away from home.

Hey everyone,

BASCon is just around the corner and like many others are probably doing I'm trying to finialize my plans.  Sadly I am in need of roommates this year.  The ones I have been staying with for years I have been either unable to contact or they are unsure if they will be able to come.

That said I if someone has space I would be most interested.   I arrive Thursday night and down't fly out until Sunday afternoon, so I'm there for 3 nights.  I'm use to staying in a room with a total of 4 people (it's way cheaper that way) but even if it's just 2 of us that will work.  I really don't want to eat the cost of a whole room by myself.

If anyone is interested please let me know.

Thanks,
Brandy
